❓ FAQ

Is the hockey draft guide free?

The top-12 preview above is free, along with the mock draft and season simulators. The full Top 250, the tiers, the category profiles and the write-ups are free with a Velvet Seat ($9.99/mo). The book is coming to Amazon, Apple Books, Google Play, Walmart and Barnes & Noble.

Where do the rankings come from?

Our own system, not a consensus list: skaters scored on five categories as z-scores against the league and blended by position; goalies put on the same scale with a goalie model; shrunk for small samples, with a 2026-27 situation layer for trades, injury returns and rookies.

How are goalies ranked against skaters?

The goalie model scores wins, save percentage, goals-against and shutouts, then maps the result onto the skater scale, so a Top 250 can hold both.

When should I draft?

As close to opening night as your league allows. Every preseason week is free injury news, line-combination clarity and rookie usage.
