Tuesday is the biggest NHL card of the young season, and every puck drops at 7:00 PM ET or later. Five games start at 7:00, then
Rangers and
Islanders at 7:30,
Blackhawks and
Blues at 8:00,
Kraken and
Golden Knights at 9:40 and
Kings and
Panthers at 10:00.
Here is the number that should shape how you read the board: across the 20 games played from Saturday through Monday, teams averaged 5.75 goals per game, 13 of the 20 finished with five goals or fewer, and only 5 reached seven or more. Monday alone went four-for-four on the unders, with PHI 1, TB 4, Senators 4, BOS 1, WPG 3, PIT 2 and SJ 0, DAL 5 all landing under the closing total. One night is not a trend, but 20 games is a real sample, and the early-season market is still finding its feet.
Starting goalies are not confirmed as we publish, and lines move after they are. Everything below is built on results and statuses we could verify, so check the confirmations before you lock anything. The win probabilities quoted are model numbers, not betting lines.

Best Games to Target
Islanders at
Rangers, 7:30 PM ET
The Rangers lead the East in the standings after beating Utah 4-2 on Sunday (Mammoth 2, Rangers 4). The Islanders come in off a 6-0 win over the Devils on Saturday (Devils 0, Islanders 6). Two teams with real recent form in a division rivalry is the cleanest game on the card to build a same-game slip around, and the Parlay Doctor will grade it before you fire.
Hurricanes at
Canadiens, 7:00 PM ET
Carolina is the model favorite on the road. The Hurricanes won at Philadelphia 3-2 on Saturday (Hurricanes 3, PHI 2), while Montreal was part of the highest-scoring game of the weekend, an 11-goal 6-5 loss at Pittsburgh (Canadiens 5, PIT 6). Seth Jarvis is not an option for Carolina, since he is still recovering from June shoulder surgery that carried a four-to-six month timeline. Watch Sebastian Aho and Andrei Svechnikov on the Carolina side and Cole Caufield and Nick Suzuki for Montreal. Shot volume is the cleanest way in: the NHL shots leaderboard shows who is actually getting pucks on net.
Senators at
Red Wings, 7:00 PM ET
Ottawa is 2-0 after beating Boston 4-1 on Monday (Senators 4, BOS 1), where Tim Stützle scored twice and added an assist. The Senators will be without defenseman Jake Sanderson, who was ruled out for Monday and for tonight in Detroit after reaggravating an undisclosed injury. Detroit is 0-2 in the standings after a 3-2 loss to Winnipeg at home on Sunday (WPG 3, Red Wings 2). Alex DeBrincat is the Red Wings name to watch for goals.
Golden Knights at
Kraken, 9:40 PM ET
Vegas is the biggest model favorite on the board at 59.8%, and Jack Eichel is the player who drives that. The Golden Knights won at Vancouver 3-2 on Sunday (Golden Knights 3, VAN 2). Seattle is flying, though, after a 6-1 win over Calgary on Sunday (CGY 1, Kraken 6), so the home side is not the pushover the model number implies. This is the late game to track on the Game Zone once the puck drops.
Wild at
Sabres, 7:00 PM ET
The closest model game on the board. Minnesota is 2-0 after beating Boston 4-1 (BOS 1, Wild 4), Buffalo beat Chicago 4-3 (Blackhawks 3, Sabres 4). Tage Thompson is the Sabres skater to know. Kirill Kaprizov headlines Minnesota.
The rest of the card
Predators at
Maple Leafs: Nashville won its home game 2-1 over Dallas on Saturday (DAL 1, Predators 2). Auston Matthews is the Toronto name to know and Filip Forsberg is the Nashville scorer to watch.
Mammoth at
Devils: the Devils were shut out 6-0 by the Islanders Saturday, so Jack Hughes and Jesper Bratt are in bounce-back spots, while Utah beat Columbus 4-1 (Mammoth 4, CBJ 1) before losing at the Rangers (Mammoth 2, Rangers 4).
Blues at
Blackhawks: Chicago is 0-3 and just lost 4-3 in Buffalo, St. Louis was hammered 6-1 at Colorado (Blues 1, COL 6). Neither side comes in sharp, and the Blues are the model favorite at 55.9%.
Panthers at
Kings: Florida lost 3-2 at Anaheim on Sunday (Panthers 2, ANA 3) and Los Angeles lost 5-4 at San Jose Saturday (Kings 4, SJ 5). Aleksander Barkov left Florida's Oct. 1 game against San Jose with a leg injury, an MRI was pending and early speculation pointed to weeks rather than days, so confirm his status before you build anything around the Panthers.
Player Props and Where to Shop Them
We are not quoting prop prices in this article, because prices at these books change by the hour. What we can give you is the process. Start at the NHL props board to see every posted number, run the player through the Hit Board for a hit rate against the line, and check Splits to see how he has actually performed in this spot. Then compare the price across books on the heat map and watch the line movement page for sharp action.
Three prop types deserve the most attention in a low-scoring early season: shots on goal (volume is a role, goals are noise), power-play points (the power-play leaderboard shows who is on the first unit) and goalie saves (set by the opposing shot volume, see the goaltending board and the team defense page).
DFS Players and Fantasy Targets
The NHL DFS Edge board grades salary against real production, the NHL start/sit board sorts every startable player, and the hot-tonight board shows who is hot tonight. Build lineups with the Lineup Shuffler once you have a pool, and let the AI Roster Doctor sanity check your roster. Pay for the games with the best environment, the Rangers-Islanders and Hurricanes-Canadiens cards, and look for cheap forwards on the lines that get the first power-play minute.
Injury news moves fast in October. The NHL player news wire carries every player item as it breaks, and My Team keeps your own roster in one place.
Best Betting Angles
1. Respect the sample. Under 20 games, the totals have run low: 13 of 20 went five goals or fewer. That is a lean toward unders, not a rule, and it makes the high-total games more interesting if the number gets pushed up too far by the public.
2. Shop the rivalry game. Rangers-Islanders is the one most likely to be priced tight. Check the heat map for the best number before you decide.
3. Do not pay a premium for Vegas. At roughly 60 percent in the model, a favorite price on the road needs to be checked against the market on the implied probability page before it is worth anything.
4. Build, then grade. Use the NHL Parlay Generator, then run the slip through the Parlay Doctor. Cutting one weak leg is usually the difference between a good ticket and a bad one.
Every pick and call we make is graded the next morning at Graded Results, wins and losses, with Calibration showing whether our probabilities hold up. Our NHL Verdicts carry the written reads on every game.
Build Your Own Tonight: Every NHL Parlay Tool
The NHL Parlay Generator is the fastest way in: goal scorer, shots, points and more across tonight's nine games. Want to pick the legs yourself? Use the Parlay Builder and mix sports on one slip, or open Parlay Central for the full set. Pick'em player? The NHL Slip Builder ranks every prop by real win probability, and the Parlay Doctor grades the ticket A through F before you play it. Price the whole thing with the Parlay Calculator.
Want one slip across football, basketball, hockey and baseball? The AI Parlay Generator builds all four on one ticket.
