The part that matters most here: the book has already priced the correlations that are obvious. A quarterback's passing yards and his own top receiver's receiving yards moving together is priced in everywhere. The correlation edge that's actually worth anything lives in the pairings the market hasn't bothered to connect — and finding those is the entire point of checking rather than assuming a stack "feels right."
Swap EV: Is A Late Move Actually An Upgrade?
Before you swap a player at lock, see whether the move genuinely adds expected points or leverage — or whether it's just motion that feels like doing something.
Late swap is a real, legitimate edge — new information genuinely does arrive right up to lock. But it's also where anxiety masquerades as strategy. A swap made because a name feels safer isn't the same as a swap that's mathematically better, and the two feel identical in the moment.
