Monday Night Football closes Week 4 with an NFC South matchup that is considerably more important than the 1-2 records suggest.
The
Falcons travel to
Saints to face the Saints at Caesars Superdome, with both teams trying to avoid falling into a major early-season hole in the division.
Atlanta enters the game with momentum after destroying Green Bay 35-14 last Thursday. New Orleans, meanwhile, is coming off a frustrating 35-27 loss to Las Vegas after four turnovers wiped out a double-digit second-half lead.
That creates an interesting betting matchup: Atlanta's offense finally exploded last week, while New Orleans has significant defensive injuries.
GAME INFORMATION
Falcons at
Saints
Date: Monday, October 5, 2026
Kickoff: 8:15 PM ET
Location: Caesars Superdome, New Orleans, Louisiana
Surface: Indoor
TV: ESPN and ABC
Records: Falcons 1-2, Saints 1-2
Current spread: Saints -1.5, ranging to -2 at some books
Moneyline: Saints approximately -125 to -136 / Falcons approximately +105 to +114
Over/Under: 47.5, ranging up to 48.5
The game is being played indoors, eliminating weather as a major variable. That makes this a particularly interesting matchup for fantasy and DFS players because there shouldn't be environmental concerns affecting the passing or kicking games. The Line Checker and line movement track exactly how this number has moved through the day.
WHY THIS GAME MATTERS
This is an NFC South game with both teams sitting at 1-2.
A victory moves the winner to 2-2 and keeps it firmly in the early divisional race. A loss drops the loser to 1-3.
Atlanta also has an unusual scheduling situation. The Falcons are playing their second consecutive prime-time game after beating Green Bay 35-14 last Thursday.
Michael Penix Jr. returned to the lineup for the first time since tearing his ACL last November and immediately changed the complexion of the Atlanta offense, going 18 of 25 for 256 yards with a touchdown and an interception. Bijan Robinson exploded for 194 rushing yards and two touchdowns on the ground, while Drake London caught nine passes for 194 yards. Atlanta outrushed Green Bay 242 yards to 17 and scored 27 unanswered points after trailing 7-0.
The question tonight is whether those performances represent a sustainable offensive breakout or whether the Falcons are about to encounter some regression.
INJURY REPORT
The injury situation heavily favors Atlanta from a fantasy perspective because New Orleans is particularly depleted at linebacker and along the defensive front.
Saints
New Orleans has already ruled out three front-seven pieces: Kaden Elliss (calf), Carl Granderson (ankle) and Anfernee Jennings (knee).
Pete Werner is questionable with a shoulder injury. If Werner cannot play, New Orleans could be down four linebackers. That is extremely important against an Atlanta offense built around Bijan Robinson.
Tight end Noah Fant is also questionable with an abdomen issue, and running back Travis Etienne Jr. remains on injured reserve, one more reason the Saints' offense leans so heavily on Tyler Shough's arm.
The Saints are additionally still waiting for rookie wide receiver Jordyn Tyson to make his NFL debut. Tyson remains weeks away from returning from his hamstring injury and is not expected to help New Orleans tonight.
Falcons
Atlanta's significant question marks include Divine Deablo, Samson Ebukam and Yasir Abdullah, all questionable. Nobody on the Falcons has been ruled out.
Kendal Daniels has returned to full practice.
The Falcons therefore enter the game considerably healthier in the areas that matter most for stopping New Orleans' offense. The full injury report and the depth chart will have any final change before kickoff.
FANTASY PLAYERS TO WATCH
Bijan Robinson, RB, Falcons
Fantasy outlook: elite. This is the player I am watching most closely tonight.
Robinson just destroyed Green Bay for 194 rushing yards, 213 total yards and two touchdowns on 29 carries.
The matchup against New Orleans is particularly interesting because the Saints have struggled against the run.
The biggest concern is obvious: you are buying Robinson after a monster performance. But the Saints' linebacker situation makes this matchup difficult to ignore.
DFS: premium play. Season-long: start everywhere. Fantasy ceiling: massive. The goal-line board and the volume board track exactly this kind of workload.
Drake London, WR, Falcons
London is coming off a ridiculous 194-yard performance against Green Bay, catching nine passes.
But this is where I would be careful.
London produced only 29 yards in Week 1 and 51 yards in Week 2 before exploding last week.
The Saints matchup doesn't necessarily require Atlanta to throw 40-plus times. If Bijan controls the game, London could see fewer opportunities.
DFS: strong tournament option. Fantasy: automatic start. Prop: I prefer shopping for an under around the low-80-yard range rather than chasing last week's 194.
One current projection source has London around 64.8 receiving yards against an 81.5-yard market number.
Michael Penix Jr., QB, Falcons
Penix is suddenly interesting again.
His return produced a completely different Atlanta offense, and he now gets another favorable opportunity against a Saints defense dealing with injuries.
The biggest concern is volume. If Atlanta establishes Robinson early, Penix doesn't necessarily need to throw 40 times.
Fantasy: QB2 or high-end streaming consideration. DFS: GPP option. Passing-yard ceiling: dependent on game script.
Chris Olave, WR, Saints
Olave remains the safest New Orleans receiving option.
With Jordyn Tyson unavailable, Olave is clearly the centerpiece of the Saints' wide receiver room. He has 375 receiving yards through three games and should remain heavily involved.
The concern is Tyler Shough's volatility. Shough threw an interception and lost two fumbles against Las Vegas, although he also threw four touchdown passes and has totaled 917 yards and 8 touchdowns on the season.
That gives Olave legitimate upside but also introduces quarterback-related risk.
Fantasy: start. DFS: strong correlation play if you expect New Orleans to trail. Prop: the receiving-yard over is worth considering if the number isn't inflated.
Alvin Kamara, RB, Saints
Kamara's fantasy value is more complicated.
New Orleans will need to keep him involved, particularly if Atlanta gets ahead. However, his receiving production has been surprisingly low, with only six catches for 12 yards through two appearances.
One current prop model projects just 1.75 receptions and favors the under 2.5 receptions at plus money.
For DFS, however, Kamara remains attractive because his workload can expand quickly if New Orleans is forced into catch-up mode.
PLAYER PROP ANGLES
Bijan Robinson rushing yards, lean over if the market remains reasonable. This is the matchup I like more than trying to chase another 194-yard performance. The Saints are vulnerable against the run, and Atlanta has every reason to establish Robinson. I am more interested in his rushing attempts and a reasonable rushing-yard number than blindly betting him to repeat last week's explosion.
Drake London receiving yards, lean under around 81.5. London just went for 194 yards, which means the market is understandably adjusting. Atlanta can win this game without asking Penix to throw relentlessly. One current projection has London at 64.81 receiving yards against an 81.5 line.
Kyle Pitts Sr. receptions, lean over 3.5 if you can still find plus money. Pitts has had an extremely quiet start, but New Orleans has allowed substantial production to tight ends. One current market has Pitts projected around 3.84 receptions, with +145 available on the over 3.5 at one book. That makes Pitts an intriguing low-rostered DFS tournament option.
Tyler Shough rushing yards, interesting over. Shough's mobility creates an additional fantasy avenue. One sportsbook analysis has his rushing prop around 16.5 yards and identifies the over as an attractive angle. If Atlanta concentrates on containing the traditional running game, Shough's scrambling ability could become particularly important.
Every prop on this game is live now, and devig any of these before you bet them.
DFS STRATEGY
Cash-game core: Bijan Robinson. The combination of workload, matchup and New Orleans' linebacker injuries makes him extremely difficult to ignore.
Tournament stack: Michael Penix Jr. plus Drake London. The obvious Atlanta passing stack. If the Saints score enough to force Atlanta into a higher-volume passing game, the combination could pay off quickly.
Contrarian Saints stack: Tyler Shough plus Chris Olave. This requires believing New Orleans can score efficiently, but Shough demonstrated last week that he has legitimate touchdown upside despite his mistakes.
Cheap, low-ownership idea: Kyle Pitts Sr.. Pitts has been quiet enough that DFS players may overlook him. The matchup gives him a path to finally produce.
DFS Edge and the lineup optimizer already have tonight's salaries loaded.
BETTING OUTLOOK
The current market has the Saints favored by 1.5 to 2 points, with the total sitting at 47.5.
New Orleans being favored by such a small margin tells you what the market thinks of this matchup: essentially a toss-up with home-field advantage pushing the Saints slightly ahead.
But I don't love laying points with New Orleans. The Saints have significant linebacker injuries, and Atlanta just demonstrated that its offense can become explosive with Penix, Robinson and London functioning together.
MY SIDE: FALCONS +1.5
I prefer Atlanta getting the points. The Falcons have the more convincing recent offensive performance, their defense has played well overall, and the Saints' linebacker injuries are particularly problematic against Atlanta's rushing attack.
The biggest danger is New Orleans forcing turnovers again. If Atlanta protects the football, I think the Falcons have a legitimate chance to win outright.
TOTAL: LEAN OVER 47.5
This one is closer. New Orleans has enough offensive firepower to contribute, while Atlanta's offense suddenly looks capable of producing explosive plays. The indoor environment also removes weather concerns.
I wouldn't chase the over if the number climbs significantly, but 47.5 is playable in the right market.
MONEYLINE: FALCONS TO WIN OUTRIGHT
I am taking the upset. The Saints' defensive injuries, Atlanta's rushing matchup and Penix's improved offensive rhythm push me toward Atlanta at plus money.
FINAL SCORE PREDICTION
MY BEST BETS
1. Falcons +1.5
2. Falcons moneyline
3. Drake London under 81.5 receiving yards
4. Kyle Pitts Sr. over 3.5 receptions if plus money remains available
5. Bijan Robinson rushing over at a reasonable number
Devig and implied probability turn any of these into a plain number before you bet them, and Kelly sizes the stake.
FANTASY FINAL
Best overall fantasy play: Bijan Robinson
Best WR play: Chris Olave
Best ceiling: Drake London
Best QB tournament play: Michael Penix Jr.
Best value and contrarian play: Kyle Pitts Sr.
Best matchup-driven sleeper: Tyler Shough rushing production
The key to tonight's game is simple: Atlanta's offense is no longer the same offense we saw in Weeks 1 and 2. Penix's return unlocked Robinson and London, and now New Orleans has to defend an offense that can beat it on the ground or through explosive passes.
At the same time, the Saints' linebacker injuries could become the defining matchup of the night.
If Atlanta establishes Robinson early, I expect the Falcons to control the tempo and keep the Saints from turning this into the high-scoring shootout the betting market is anticipating.
Final pick:
Falcons 27,
Saints 24.
