Night two of the season brings Giannis Antetokounmpo's Heat debut against a Timberwolves team with LaMelo Ball, Kawhi Leonard's return to Toronto, Damian Lillard and Ja Morant together in Portland, and Stephen Curry against Luka Dončić to close the night.

GAME BY GAME
Milwaukee Bucks at Washington Wizards, 7:00. Milwaukee plays its first game since trading Giannis Antetokounmpo to Miami, and the Bucks' starting five was still unsettled this week. Rookie Nate Ament practiced fully after missing the preseason finale. Washington will be without No. 1 rookie AJ Dybantsa, who is day-to-day with a mild left ankle sprain and targets Friday against Toronto. Jamir Watkins is out for the season and Tristan Vukcevic is out with a hip injury. The replacement starter between Tre Johnson and Bilal Coulibaly had not been announced.
Atlanta Hawks at Orlando Magic, 7:00. Franz Wagner plans to play after a full practice Tuesday, following a right shoulder injury in the preseason finale. Orlando is otherwise thin: Jonathan Isaac, Anthony Black, Isaiah Nelson and Noah Penda are out, and Josh Richardson is day-to-day. Sean Sweeney coaches his first game for Orlando. For Atlanta, Trae Young leads the offense, and Mouhamed Gueye is out.
Charlotte Hornets at Brooklyn Nets, 7:30. Charlotte is missing Coby White, Kon Knueppel and Grant Williams. Brooklyn lists one forward out with a shoulder injury. Two short-handed teams make this a game where the rotation news matters more than the names.
Chicago Bulls at Toronto Raptors, 7:30. Kawhi Leonard plays his first regular-season game for Toronto since the 2019 title run. Chicago has a long day-to-day list, including Isaac Okoro, Zach Collins and two players with a stomach illness, so check the NBA player news for who is actually active.
Minnesota Timberwolves at Miami Heat, 7:30. The headline game of the early window. Giannis Antetokounmpo makes his Heat debut after the summer trade from Milwaukee, and Bam Adebayo expects to play alongside him. Minnesota counters with Anthony Edwards and LaMelo Ball, who also debuts for his new team. Donte DiVincenzo is out with an Achilles injury. Giannis is 15-7 in his career against Minnesota, averaging 23 points, 10.3 rebounds and 5.9 assists.
Indiana Pacers at New Orleans Pelicans, 8:00. Tyrese Haliburton plays his first regular-season game since his Achilles injury. Indiana is without Aaron Nesmith and Johnny Furphy. New Orleans reports no injuries and plays its first game under Jamahl Mosley.
Utah Jazz at Memphis Grizzlies, 8:00. Memphis rookie Cameron Boozer is expected to see his first regular-season minutes, while Isaiah Stewart is out with an ankle injury. Utah is without Jusuf Nurkić for at least four weeks.
Dallas Mavericks at Houston Rockets, 8:30. Houston is close to full strength, with Fred VanVleet back after missing all of last season, which takes ball-handling pressure off Kevin Durant and Amen Thompson. Alperen Sengun is coming off his second straight All-Star season. Dallas opens under new coach Dusty May with Cooper Flagg in his second season and Kyrie Irving returning from his knee injury, but without Dereck Lively II, Santi Aldama, Caleb Martin and Tarik Biberovic, with Jett Howard questionable.
Phoenix Suns at Portland Trail Blazers, 10:00. Damian Lillard returns from the Achilles injury that cost him last season and starts alongside Ja Morant. Phoenix is without Mark Williams after shoulder surgery.
Golden State Warriors at Los Angeles Lakers, 10:00. The marquee game. Stephen Curry sprained his right ankle in Sunday's open practice, returned to practice Monday, and is listed as probable; Steve Kerr said he will play. Golden State is otherwise depleted: Jimmy Butler III (torn ACL) and Moses Moody (patellar tendon) are out long-term, Kristaps Porziņģis is out with an illness, and Brandin Podziemski has been ruled out with low back soreness. The Lakers list Collin Sexton as questionable and Adou Thiero and Cameron Carr as out, with Luka Dončić and Austin Reaves healthy.
Sacramento Kings at LA Clippers, 10:30. The Clippers are without Bradley Beal, Brandon Ingram, Max Strus and others, and start Isaiah Jackson at center. Sacramento is without Ben Simmons for the season. The minutes leaders will show who absorbs the minutes.
PLAYER PROP RESEARCH
We do not quote lines. These are the players worth researching tonight on the NBA player props page and the NBA heatmap, and the NBA prop hit rate board shows how often each has cleared his number:
- Luka Dončić (Lakers): the highest-usage player on the late slate against a Warriors team missing four rotation players. Check the scoring leaders.
- Stephen Curry (Warriors): probable after the ankle scare. With Butler, Podziemski, Moody and Porziņģis out, his shot volume could climb. Threes markets live on the three-point leaders.
- Giannis Antetokounmpo (Heat): points, rebounds and combined markets in his Heat debut against a Minnesota defense that beat Miami twice last season. The rebounding leaders tracks the boards.
- LaMelo Ball (Timberwolves): now in Minnesota, not Charlotte. Assists and threes are the markets to research in his debut; see the assist leaders.
- Alperen Sengun (Rockets): an All-Star big in a game Houston is expected to control. Rebounds and assists are his most stable markets.
Opening-week minutes are the biggest unknown in every prop. A blowout in Houston or Toronto can cut a starter's fourth quarter, and a new rotation can move a role overnight. The NBA hot tonight page is the place to watch both.
DFS: BUILD AROUND MINUTES AND USAGE
On an 11-game slate, minutes decide more than names. Start with the NBA DFS value plays, check every starter on the NBA start/sit board, and rotate builds with the lineup shuffler.
- Luka Dončić: the cleanest high-usage play on the late slate.
- Stephen Curry: a ceiling play if active, with Golden State's rotation stripped down.
- Giannis Antetokounmpo: new team, same usage; his debut is a volume spot.
- Anthony Edwards: a scoring-driven tournament option in the Miami game.
- Kevin Durant: a scoring option with a blowout risk that could cost fourth-quarter minutes.
- Tyrese Haliburton: back from the Achilles injury; watch for any minutes limit before you play him.
For cash games, take secure minutes. For tournaments, look for the players inheriting minutes from tonight's absences in Golden State, Orlando, Charlotte and the Clippers. Do not roster a cheap player only because he is projected to start. The NBA projections gives you our minutes and production expectations.
THE FANTASYDAILIES ILLUSTRATIVE PARLAY
A parlay is a chain of conditions, and every leg must hit. Here is a three-leg research ticket built on players, not sides or totals:
- Luka Dončić to record 25 or more points. A heavy-usage role against a short-handed Warriors team.
- Stephen Curry to make 3 or more threes. Only if he is active at tip-off.
- Giannis Antetokounmpo to record a double-double. His debut is a volume spot.
We do not quote prices. Build it on the NBA AI parlay builder or the NBA slip builder, run it through the parlay calculator, and use the odds converter to turn any price into an implied percentage. Two of the three legs come from the same 10 p.m. game, so check whether your book allows them together. No ticket is guaranteed.
Basketball does not have a standardized teaser like football. Alternate spreads exist, but each moved point costs price. If you are hunting for a middle, the middle finder compares two genuinely different numbers, and the Sports Betting Strategy Book has the full playbook.

THE BOTTOM LINE
Night two is a night of firsts: Giannis in a Heat jersey, LaMelo in Minnesota, Kawhi back in Toronto, Lillard and Haliburton back from their Achilles injuries, and Curry against Luka with a thin Warriors bench. The biggest mistake on an 11-game opening-week slate is betting every game. Wait for confirmed starters, check our calls on the NBA verdicts page, and skip anything that no longer makes sense once the lineups post.
