NBA Recap: Jokic Makes History, Brunson Takes Over, Rockets Rout Bucks in Wild Wednesday Night

By Kaito Park · October 29, 2026

NBA Daily Recap | October 29, 2026

Wednesday night in the NBA delivered a little bit of everything: historic individual achievements, comeback victories, blowouts, late-game drama and my New York Knicks team finally finding its rhythm. Twelve games filled the schedule, and several performances stood out as the league's young season continued to take shape.

Nikola Jokić reached another historic milestone, Jalen Brunson carried the Knicks past Chicago, Golden State survived a major Minnesota challenge, and Houston handed Milwaukee a 32-point beating. Meanwhile, the unbeaten Oklahoma City Thunder suffered a surprising defeat in Dallas, and the Los Angeles Lakers won the battle for L.A.

Here's your complete rundown of Wednesday night's action.

🔥 GAME OF THE NIGHT: KNICKS 133, BULLS 127

Full box score: Knicks 133, Bulls 127

The New York Knicks are starting to find their footing, and Jalen Brunson is leading the way.

Brunson erupted for 38 points and seven assists as New York overcame a 19-point deficit to beat the Chicago Bulls, 133-127, earning its second consecutive victory after opening the season with three straight losses.

Karl-Anthony Towns added 19 points and 13 rebounds, OG Anunoby contributed 23 points, and Jordan Clarkson chipped in 18. New York needed every bit of that production against a Chicago team that refused to go quietly.

Norman Powell led the Bulls with 30 points, while Caleb Wilson added 20. Chicago connected on 18 of 42 three-point attempts and appeared to have the game under control before the Knicks turned up the pressure in the fourth quarter.

New York's decisive 10-2 run swung the momentum. Chicago made one final push, cutting the deficit to three points in the closing minute, but Brunson and Anunoby made the necessary free throws to seal the victory.

The takeaway: The Knicks are showing resilience, but digging a 19-point hole against a stronger opponent could prove costly. Brunson's ability to control the fourth quarter remains New York's most valuable weapon.

🏆 HISTORIC NIGHT: NUGGETS 104, PELICANS 91

Full box score: Nuggets 104, Pelicans 91

Nikola Jokić continues to build a résumé that belongs among the greatest in NBA history.

The Denver Nuggets center recorded his 200th career regular-season triple-double, finishing with 21 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists in Denver's 104-91 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans.

Jamal Murray led Denver with 23 points, while Aaron Gordon added 15 points and 11 rebounds. The Nuggets established control early, outscoring New Orleans 37-18 in the opening quarter, and never surrendered the lead.

Zion Williamson scored 25 points for New Orleans, which made a brief push in the fourth quarter but couldn't overcome its sluggish start. The Pelicans fell to 0-4.

Jokić's achievement puts him in extraordinary company. He became just the second player to reach 200 regular-season triple-doubles, joining Russell Westbrook.

The takeaway: Denver has a superstar who can dominate a game without relying exclusively on scoring. For New Orleans, the winless start is becoming increasingly concerning, especially with defensive breakdowns and poor perimeter shooting continuing to hurt the team.

🚨 BLOWOUT ALERT: ROCKETS 132, BUCKS 100

Full box score: Rockets 132, Bucks 100

Houston delivered one of Wednesday's most emphatic statements, crushing Milwaukee by 32 points.

The Rockets put together a dominant offensive performance while keeping the Bucks from establishing any consistent rhythm. Houston's victory also strengthened its early-season standing as one of the teams worth watching in the Western Conference.

Milwaukee, meanwhile, has stumbled out of the gate. A 100-point performance wasn't enough to remain competitive against Houston's attack, and the size of the defeat raises questions about the Bucks' defensive consistency and overall chemistry.

The takeaway: Houston looks dangerous when its offense is clicking. Milwaukee needs to find answers quickly before an early-season slump turns into a larger problem.

🏀 WARRIORS 119, TIMBERWOLVES 114

Full box score: Warriors 119, Timberwolves 114

Stephen Curry delivered another headline performance, scoring 44 points to lead Golden State past Minnesota on the road.

The Warriors needed Curry's scoring punch to withstand a Timberwolves team that entered the night with a strong early-season record. Minnesota stayed competitive, but Golden State made enough plays down the stretch to escape with the five-point victory.

For the Warriors, the result offers an encouraging sign: when Curry gets rolling, the offense can become extremely difficult to contain, even against a quality opponent.

Minnesota will look back at the missed opportunities in a close game, particularly against a Golden State team that knows how to execute in pressure situations.

The takeaway: Curry remains capable of changing the complexion of a game in a matter of minutes. Golden State's bigger question is whether it can consistently complement his production over a full season.

🗽 76ERS 114, PACERS 109

Full box score: 76ers 114, Pacers 109

Philadelphia pulled off one of the night's most impressive comebacks, rallying past Indiana after a disastrous third quarter.

Tyrese Maxey finished with 27 points, Joel Embiid contributed 21 points and 11 rebounds, and Philadelphia recovered after Indiana scored the first 17 points of the third quarter.

The Pacers briefly turned a halftime deficit into a 13-point advantage entering the fourth. But Maxey took over late, knocking down two crucial three-pointers in the final 90 seconds to help the Sixers escape Indianapolis with the win.

Pascal Siakam led Indiana with 26 points and 11 rebounds. The Pacers were without Tyrese Haliburton, who was sidelined with a hamstring strain.

The takeaway: Philadelphia showed toughness when its offense needed to respond. Indiana's ability to compete without Haliburton is encouraging, but closing games remains essential.

🏀 RAPTORS 129, MAGIC 99

Full box score: Raptors 129, Magic 99

Toronto produced one of the most convincing performances of the evening, dismantling Orlando by 30 points.

Scottie Barnes led the Raptors with 28 points, six rebounds and three steals as Toronto controlled the game on both ends of the floor.

Orlando struggled to keep pace with Toronto's offense, and the 30-point margin was a reminder of how quickly a game can get away from a team when defensive rotations break down.

The takeaway: Toronto looks capable of making noise if Barnes continues to produce at this level and the supporting cast maintains its efficiency. Orlando will need a sharper defensive response in its next outing.

🐺 SPURS 117, JAZZ 111 (OT)

Victor Wembanyama delivered another spectacular performance, pouring in 36 points as San Antonio survived an overtime battle against Utah.

The Spurs needed extra time to secure the six-point win, but Wembanyama's scoring ability proved decisive in a game that remained competitive throughout regulation.

San Antonio continues to demonstrate why its young core is attracting so much attention. Wembanyama's combination of size, mobility and scoring range gives the Spurs a matchup problem that few teams can easily solve.

Utah showed enough fight to force overtime, but couldn't finish the job.

The takeaway: Wembanyama is establishing himself as a nightly difference-maker. San Antonio's next challenge is turning these individual performances into consistent team success.

🤠 MAVERICKS 120, THUNDER 96

Full box score: Mavericks 120, Thunder 96

Dallas handed Oklahoma City a stunning 24-point defeat, one of the biggest surprises on Wednesday's schedule.

The Thunder entered the matchup with championship expectations, but the Mavericks controlled the contest and limited Oklahoma City to just 96 points.

Cooper Flagg and the Dallas supporting cast helped deliver a statement victory, while Oklahoma City struggled to generate the offense needed to keep the game competitive.

One loss in October doesn't define a season, but the Thunder will want to respond quickly and avoid letting an unexpected defeat become a trend.

The takeaway: Dallas showed it can challenge elite competition when its execution is sharp. Oklahoma City has the talent to rebound, but this was a night when the previously unbeaten Thunder were thoroughly outplayed.

🌴 LAKERS 103, CLIPPERS 87

Full box score: Lakers 103, Clippers 87

The Lakers won the battle for Los Angeles, defeating the Clippers by 16 points in a defensive-minded finish to Wednesday's schedule.

Los Angeles held the Clippers to just 87 points, controlling the contest through defensive pressure and limiting their city rivals' offensive opportunities.

The result gives the Lakers a strong local bragging-rights victory and provides an encouraging sign that their defense can be a factor early in the season.

For the Clippers, the offensive struggles were difficult to overcome, particularly against a Lakers team that steadily built its advantage.

The takeaway: The Lakers made a statement on the defensive end. The Clippers need more consistent offensive production if they want to turn close games into wins.

📈 BIGGEST TAKEAWAYS FROM WEDNESDAY NIGHT

1. Nikola Jokić keeps rewriting the record book. His 200th career regular-season triple-double adds another historic achievement to an already extraordinary career.

2. The Knicks are showing signs of life. Two consecutive victories have eased the pressure after a rough start, and Brunson continues to look like the engine of the offense.

3. Houston deserves attention. A 32-point win over Milwaukee is a statement, although consistency over a longer stretch will matter more than one dominant night.

4. Dallas delivered a warning to the West. Beating Oklahoma City by 24 points sends a message that the Mavericks shouldn't be overlooked.

5. Toronto and Golden State made statements. The Raptors dominated Orlando, while Curry's 44-point explosion powered the Warriors past Minnesota.

6. The early-season standings are already shifting. With teams adjusting to new rotations, injuries and developing chemistry, a hot or cold start can quickly change the conversation around a playoff race.

💰 FANTASYDAILIES DFS AND FANTASY WATCH

Wednesday's action offered several performances fantasy managers will want to examine when evaluating their next lineup decisions.

Remember: one big game doesn't automatically make a player a must-start or a guaranteed DFS value. Salary, opponent, projected minutes, injury news and expected usage should all factor into lineup decisions.

THE BOTTOM LINE

Wednesday night was a reminder of why the NBA's early-season schedule can be so entertaining. Historic milestones, comeback victories, blowouts and unexpected results all landed on the same card.

Jokić made history. Brunson rescued the Knicks. Curry put on a scoring show. Houston demolished Milwaukee. And Dallas delivered one of the night's biggest surprises by taking down Oklahoma City.

The season is still young, but the storylines are already developing, and the next round of games will offer another opportunity to separate early noise from genuine contenders.
