It started with a box score that looked like a typo.
On November 1, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers beat the Atlanta Falcons 16-0 in a downpour without completing a single pass. Baker Mayfield threw three passes and completed none of them, and the Bucs still walked off winners. They were the first NFL team since the 1974 Buffalo Bills to win without a completion.
Half of our group chat thought the stat feed was broken. The other half asked the only question that matters: what else like that has actually happened?
Turns out, a lot. So we wrote the book on it.
Meet That Really Happened
That Really Happened: The FantasyDailies Book of Bizarre Sports Trivia is 472 questions about the most unbelievable true moments in sports, and every answer comes with the story behind it. It isn't a book of dry stat questions. It's the bar-stool stories, the "no way that's real" moments and the games that left whole stadiums staring at the scoreboard.
Thirteen chapters, each one a different flavor of bizarre:
- The Weirdest of 2026: a win without a completed pass, a kicker who blew the winning extra point and won it anyway, and one soaked, overtime-crazy Sunday.
- Wins That Make No Sense
- Weather Gone Wild
- Promotions, Stunts and Fans Gone Wrong
- Bizarre Injuries
- Animals on the Field
- Blunders for the Ages
- Rule Book Oddities
- Unlikely Heroes
- Feats That Sound Fake
- Finishes You Won't Believe
- Bad Beats and Long Shots
- Around the Sports World
Can You Answer These?
A few teasers straight from the book. The answers, and the stories behind them, are inside.
- In February 2020, a Zamboni driver named David Ayres was pulled into an NHL game as an emergency goalie and got the win. Which team was he playing for?
- On May 26, 1959, Pittsburgh's Harvey Haddix was perfect against the Milwaukee Braves for how many innings before losing?
- In the famous "Fog Bowl" playoff game on December 31, 1988, which team beat the Philadelphia Eagles while a thick fog rolled over the field?
- In 1951, the St. Louis Browns sent 3-foot-7 Eddie Gaedel up to bat. What number was on the back of his jersey?
- On Disco Demolition Night at Comiskey Park in 1979, fans who brought a disco record got in for what price?
- Nashville Predators fans have their own answer to the Detroit octopus. What do they throw on the ice?

Every Answer Checked Twice
Here's the part we're proudest of. A trivia book is only as good as its answers, and nothing kills a game night faster than an answer key that's wrong.
Every fact in That Really Happened was confirmed in at least two independent sources: league records, statistical databases, wire services and major newspapers. If a detail couldn't be proven twice, it was cut. And every source is listed in the back of the book, chapter by chapter and question by question, so you can check our work.
We also stuck to moments that are frozen in time. You won't find "who holds the record" questions that go stale next season. What happened on a given day in a given game stays true forever.
Built for Game Night
Read it on the couch, or turn it into a full-blown trivia night. Every chapter has three levels:
- Rookie Level: the famous ones, worth 1 point each.
- Pro Level: the deeper cuts, worth 2 points.
- Hall of Fame Level: the stories even diehards don't know, worth 3 points.
Multiple choice, true or false and WHO AM I? questions keep it moving. Each chapter lists its maximum score, and your rank, from Bandwagon Fan all the way up to Hall of Famer, comes from the share of points you earn. In the back you'll find scorecards, a quick answer key, a full index of every player, team and venue, and links (QR codes in print) that take you straight to daily trivia on FantasyDailies.
The paperback edition also comes with tear-out trivia night scoresheets and team answer sheets, so you can run a full competition with your friends, your fantasy league or the regulars at your local bar.
