The last 24 hours delivered the latest four-goal comeback in NHL history, the first College Football Playoff rankings, a quarterback emergency in Baltimore, an ejection in Golden State and a new offer in baseball's labor fight. From the NFL to the Champions League, here's what everyone should be talking about.
NFL: The Ravens Have a Quarterback Emergency
Baltimore's quarterback room has hit crisis level. Lamar Jackson is on injured reserve with a right thumb injury that needs surgery, and Tyler Huntley has a toe injury and is ruled out. So coach Jesse Minter named undrafted rookie Joe Fagnano the starter for Thursday night against
Jacksonville.
Fagnano got thrown into Sunday's 36-10 loss in Buffalo and went 10 of 21 for 91 yards with an interception (box score). That's a major fantasy and DFS development: the Jacksonville defense becomes a strong streaming option, and everybody in Baltimore's passing game carries risk. Run the game in the game simulator and see our pick.
Other NFL headlines:
- The
Bills released safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson on Tuesday. He had just served a one-game suspension for spitting toward Raiders tight end Brock Bowers. - Former Seahawks and Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson interviewed for the NC State head coaching job on Tuesday. Philip Rivers is also reported to be a leading candidate.
- The
Colts agreed to a two-year, $35 million extension with defensive tackle Adetomiwa Adebawore, right after trading DeForest Buckner.
Fantasy takeaway: Don't assume Fagnano produces fantasy value. Watch the target share and the backfield usage closely. Full details on our NFL injury report and our NFL depth charts.
NHL: Winnipeg Pulls Off a Historic Comeback
This might be the most unbelievable story of the night.
The Winnipeg Jets trailed the Montreal Canadiens 4-0 with 2:39 left in regulation. Then Tyrel Bauer scored his first NHL goal, Morgan Barron made it 4-2, and Kyle Connor scored twice, including the tying goal with 33 seconds left. Four goals in 2:06, the fastest four in franchise history. Dylan Samberg won it 3:30 into overtime (box score).
Final: Winnipeg 5, Montreal 4 (OT). According to NHL.com, it's the latest four-goal comeback win in NHL history. It also snapped a nine-game Winnipeg losing streak. Stuart Skinner made 18 saves, while Montreal's Jacob Fowler stopped 42.
Around the league:
- Cutter Gauthier scored his second straight hat trick as Anaheim beat Vancouver 5-4 (box score).
- New Jersey beat Edmonton 4-3 in a shootout. Jack Hughes had two goals and an assist (box score).
- Connor McDavid picked up another assist and now has at least one in all 16 games to open the season. He already set the NHL record for that last week.
- Tampa Bay beat Detroit 4-2 to improve to 7-0 at home (box score).
- Dallas edged Washington 6-5 behind a Jason Robertson hat trick (box score).
- Columbus hammered Colorado 7-2. Charlie Coyle had two goals and two assists (box score).
- Nashville beat Carolina 4-1, ending Pyotr Kochetkov's 10-game winning streak (box score).
- The New York Rangers snapped a four-game losing streak with a 3-1 win over St. Louis (box score).
The bigger NHL story: Nikita Kucherov asked the Lightning for a trade last week. He has said it's about communication and respect, not money. He's in the final year of his contract, and general manager Julien BriseBois says the team has no intention of trading him. Kucherov still had two assists in Tuesday's win over Detroit. If this turns into an actual trade, it changes the whole NHL landscape.

College Football: The First Playoff Rankings Are Out
The committee released its first College Football Playoff rankings of the season on Tuesday night, and it already gave fans plenty to argue about.
- Miami (8-0)
- Georgia (7-1)
- Utah (8-0)
- Indiana (8-1)
- Alabama (6-2)
Notre Dame (7-1) landed at No. 11, and Ohio State (6-2) is just outside the top 10 at No. 12. Alabama at No. 5 is the other big talking point: the Crimson Tide have two losses, including a 26-10 loss at Tennessee on October 17, and the Volunteers sit at No. 13.
The game everyone should be watching: No. 1 Miami at No. 11 Notre Dame, Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET. Miami can tighten its grip on the top spot, and Notre Dame badly needs a signature win.
Other big games this weekend: No. 2 Georgia at No. 10 Ole Miss, No. 5 Alabama at LSU, and No. 9 BYU at No. 3 Utah.
NBA: Draymond Green Back in the Headlines
Draymond Green was ejected Monday night against Phoenix. He picked up two technicals in the third quarter after a scuffle that included Dillon Brooks, and the Warriors were down 67-57 when he left. Golden State came back to win 116-113 anyway behind 34 points from Stephen Curry (box score). It was Green's first ejection of the season.
Green's intensity has always been part of who he is. But there's a difference between playing with an edge and putting your team in a spot where it has to win without you.
Meanwhile, Luka Doncic is off to a ridiculous start with the Lakers: 38.3 points per game through seven games, including 42 in Monday's 138-117 win over Miami (box score). He's already an early MVP favorite.
Other NBA developments:
- Kawhi Leonard finished treatment for swelling in his left knee and has started the return-to-play process with the Raptors. He'll miss at least three more games, and November 11 against Boston is the earliest he could return.
- Tonight is another busy one, with 14 games on the slate. Check our NBA calls, run any game in the AI NBA game simulator, and build it in the NBA Parlay Builder.
Fantasy basketball takeaway: Doncic is producing at an elite level, and Leonard's timeline deserves monitoring. Green's ejection is a reminder that availability matters as much as talent. Stay on top of it with our NBA player news.
MLB: The Salary Cap Fight Could Change Baseball
Baseball's labor fight is becoming the biggest story of the offseason. On Tuesday, owners proposed pushing back the start of a salary cap and payroll floor to 2028.
Under the new proposal, the projected 2028 cap would be $258.2 million and the floor $180.2 million. The players' union remains firmly against any salary cap.
Here's why it matters: the current collective bargaining agreement expires December 1, 2026, and a lockout is widely expected if there's no deal. That could put the 2027 season at risk. Keep up with it on our MLB hub.
Champions League: Tuesday's Big Results
- Paris Saint-Germain crushed Villarreal 6-0 in Spain, scoring four goals in an eight-minute stretch of the first half.
- Bayern Munich won 2-0 at Atletico Madrid on second-half goals from Lennart Karl and Konrad Laimer.
- Manchester United came from 2-0 down to beat Roma 3-2 at Old Trafford, with Matheus Cunha scoring twice. Before kickoff, fans delayed the match by throwing tennis balls onto the field to protest the Glazer family and Sir Jim Ratcliffe. The win buys manager Michael Carrick some breathing room, but United are still 17th in the Premier League.
Tennis: The WTA Finals Groups Are Set
The WTA Finals run November 8 to 15 at Indian Wells. Elena Rybakina and Coco Gauff headline Group 1 with Jessica Pegula and Linda Noskova. Aryna Sabalenka leads a tough Group 2 that includes rising star Mirra Andreeva, Elina Svitolina and Karolina Muchova.
There was an emotional moment at the Paris Masters, too. Gael Monfils, who retired last month, was honored on court on Tuesday alongside Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Gilles Simon, Richard Gasquet and Benoit Paire. He told his daughter he hopes she becomes "a great champion in everything you do."
FantasyDailies: What Matters Most Right Now
- The Ravens' quarterback situation: Fagnano's start Thursday makes the Jacksonville defense a must-look.
- The NHL scoring explosion: Gauthier's back-to-back hat tricks and McDavid's record assist streak.

- Luka Doncic: 38.3 points a game and an early MVP lead.
The Bottom Line
November is delivering exactly what sports fans want: controversy, unexpected performances, injuries, historic comebacks and storylines that could shape the rest of the season. The NFL heads into another big week, the NBA is finding its identity, the NHL is producing finishes you have to see to believe, and the playoff race in college football is finally taking shape. And that's before we even get to the weekend.
