A hundred-square Super Bowl pool. Four sheets taped together, one sheet of numbers you cut out and draw from a hat, and one page of instructions nobody will read.
This is what your kitchen wall looks like by the second quarter.
Good news: this one's only six pages.
Not forty-six. Six. You can print this at home and still afford wings. We've done the math and even at office-supply-store prices you're looking at less than a dollar, which is the cheapest thing about the entire evening.
It's white with black lines for exactly that reason. We are not going to be the ones who cost you a cartridge in February.
Same grid, different axis labels. AFC/NFC for the Super Bowl, when the conferences are the only names that exist until the fortnight before. AWAY/HOME for any other game — away goes across the top because that's the order a score is written and spoken. Both have a blank rule next to the label so you can write the actual team in once you know who's playing.
Sell all 100 squares before you draw the numbers. That's it. That's the whole game. If the numbers go up first, whoever takes 7–0 knows exactly what he's doing, and by halftime everyone else knows it too.
That's why the numbers are on a separate sheet in this kit — twenty tiles you cut out, fold, and pull from a hat once every box has a name in it. Every kit you can buy gets this right. Almost every homemade one gets it wrong.
This build involves scissors, tape and four sheets of paper. Fewer sheets than the draft board, but the stakes are higher, because this one has money on it.
FantasyDailies accepts no liability for paper cuts, misdrawn digits, the argument about whether 3–6 was a good square, or anything at all that happens in the third quarter.
Take the last digit of each team's score at the end of a quarter. Find that column and that row. Whoever's name is in the box wins. A common split is 20% / 20% / 20% / 40% with the biggest slice on the final, but it's your pool and your rules — write them on the wall next to the grid so nobody relitigates it at 9pm.
The one with the marker. The one who "definitely wrote down" who paid. The one whose grid is on a wall in a house you're not currently in.
Or — and we're just saying — we'll run the whole thing for free. The numbers draw themselves in front of everybody, the grid updates live on all 100 phones, nobody has to be trusted with a pen, and it doesn't live on one guy's wall where the rest of you can't see it.
Yes. No email, no account. The PDF is right there.
Not in this version. A 5×5 grid means each square covers four number pairs and the math gets annoying to explain at a party. If enough people ask, we'll add one.
Either cover the empties yourself, or draw the numbers anyway and treat unsold squares as house money that rolls into the final quarter. Decide before you draw, and say it out loud.
AFC / NFC if it\u2019s the Super Bowl. AWAY / HOME for literally any other game — a Thursday nighter, a playoff round, a college bowl, your kid\u2019s flag football final. The grid is identical; only the two axis labels change.
You could print page one of the grid only and have a 25-square pool at full size. Or you could use the free online one and own no tape at all. We're not the boss of you.
Free to print for your own pool. Please don't sell it. Whether a squares pool is legal where you live is between you and where you live — we make a grid, not a ruling.
