How Wild Card Weekend works. Seven teams make it from each conference: four division winners and three wild cards. The No. 1 seed sits out. Seeds 2 through 7 play three games per conference — 2 vs 7, 3 vs 6, 4 vs 5 — with the higher seed at home, spread across Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Winners advance to the Divisional Round, where the No. 1 seed enters against the lowest remaining seed. The four survivors play the Conference Championships, and the two champions meet in the Super Bowl in February.
