What is steam vs drift in line movement?

Steam is a line moving toward a side fast, often read as sharp/professional money. Drift is the opposite — a line easing away from a side, often as public money piles onto the other side.

How is this tracked without a paid service?

FantasyDailies snapshots its own live prices every 30 minutes and remembers up to 12 hours of history per line, for both game lines and player props — no third-party movement data required.

📖 How to read a move — tap here

Each row is one line that changed. Reading left to right: the player or matchup, then the market (e.g. Strikeouts, Total Bases, Moneyline), then the old number → new number and how far it moved. The colored pill marks where the move was priced — the house price is FanDuel, then DraftKings where FanDuel has not priced the line, and nothing else is posted. Steam means several books moved the same way at once — the sharpest signal, because it means real money pushed the number, not one book adjusting.

Steam vs drift, explained ▾

Every 30 minutes, the site remembers the best live price on every line it touches — up to 12 hours of memory, for both game lines and player props.

🟢 Steam: the price is moving TOWARD a side fast — often read as sharp or professional money forcing the number.
🔵 Drift: the price is easing AWAY from a side — often public money piling onto the other one.
Only real movement shown: under 8 cents of change is noise and filtered out automatically.
