A gauntlet is survivor played every day, across more than one league. That sounds like the same game at higher speed. It is not — the extra leagues change what you are actually deciding.
In a single-league survivor pool everybody faces the same board. In a gauntlet, choosing which league to shop in is the strategy. On any given night you might have basketball, hockey and baseball to pick from — and those three are not equally predictable.
This is the single biggest edge available, and most players never think about it.

A great baseball team is not close to a safe daily pick. If you have basketball available, that is almost always the better place to spend the night.
Basketball and hockey end. From roughly July, baseball is the only league playing — the least predictable one, alone, every single day. A gauntlet that runs into summer is decided there.
If you can see summer coming, the teams you conserve in spring are the ones you will be grateful for in July.
Basketball and hockey teams play far more often than football teams, and it shows. A good side on the second night of a back-to-back, especially on the road, is materially worse than the same side rested. This information is free and most of your pool will not check it.
If your pool rests teams for a number of days after you use them, your real inventory is not “every team” — it is every team not currently resting. Spending your three best options in three consecutive days leaves you thin for the rest of the week. Spread them.
Each evening: look at tomorrow’s board across every league, find the biggest talent mismatch at home, check whether that team played last night, and confirm they are not resting from a recent pick. That is most of the edge, and it takes two minutes.
Basketball, hockey and baseball all produce a winner. Soccer does not — a draw is a normal result and it happens often. In a pool where a draw counts as a loss, picking a soccer side carries risk that a basketball pick simply does not, even when the favourite is just as strong.

Choose your league before you choose your team. Basketball is the most predictable of the daily sports and baseball is the least, so on a night with both available, the basketball side is usually the safer place to spend a pick. Then check rest — a strong team on the second night of a back-to-back is meaningfully worse.
It depends on the pool. Because a daily pool would run out of teams over a long season, most set a rest period instead of banning reuse outright — a team you use is unavailable for a set number of days, then comes back.
Two things: it runs daily rather than weekly, and it spans several leagues. That second part is what changes the strategy — deciding which sport to pick from each night is a decision a single-league survivor pool never asks you to make.
